DR stands for Domain Rating, which is a metric used by Ahrefs to show how strong a website’s backlink profile is, based on a point scale from 0-100. Ahrefs compares DR to their AR (Ahrefs Ranks) but is less ‘granular’.
DR is calculated by looking into how much ‘juice’ a link has, essentially how good that link is. There are two main factors to the amount of juice a link has, the strength of the site it comes from and how many links the site has given out.
For example, if you have a site with a Low DR but only links to a few sites, the strength of the links from the Low DR site will be way more positively impactful than if you have a High DR site that links to several million sites.
Link ‘juice’ is about having a balance of quality. The perfect link would look like, a High DR site with the ability to provide relevant and rewarding links to you, as you can imagine this is quite rare to come by. filtering through your potential backlinks correctly, following the demands of DR you will have fantastically successful backlinks.
