Firstly, what are you looking to use Twitter for? Twitter is an expansive social media with a lot of depth. The ‘#’ gained a completely new meaning when twitter was born, becoming something that is used globally to find, refine searching and locate groups and people with similar interests or opinions.
To get involved you need to make an account, follow the step by step below:
Step 1: Set Up Your Profile. Choose a unique username for your new profile.
Step 2: Follow Some People. Anyone! The ‘#’ feature to find people with similar interests, i.e., #pets.
Step 3: Understand the Twitter Lingo and people you may interact with.
Step 4: Decide What Content to Tweet About. You have 280 characters! Make them Count.
Make sure to check out the ‘Trends for you’ section as there might be something interesting that you didn’t think about earlier when finding people/#’s to follow!
The ‘Trending’ page will show you what is trending/going on in the social and or media space currently, along with being able to see other people’s tweets about the subject when you click on the ‘trend’.
Making a good first impression/tweet. (Normal user)
After connecting with certain groups and ’followers’, having common interests, or just talking to have a personal connection with people you want to make a good first impression. Talking about a passion or hobby is a way to get involved or meet new individuals, for instance talking about a new art gallery that may have open in your city, that will attract people that may also be interested in the new gallery opening or just generally interested in art. Using things like #art #gallary #new #artist will also help that tweet find its home with the right communities.
Starting with a simple, ’Hello there! #myfirsttweet’ is not a bad start either!
Making a good first impression/tweet. (Marketing Ads)
When marketing a product, you are roughly going to be hitting the audience you want most of the time, with treading ads to grow an audience rapidly. Follow ads mostly use when you have a large following to promote either something that they have brought before or something similar and promoted ads a lot like treading ads but instead of growing an audience you are actively trying to sell a product. Twitter is more of an app for the people so you never want to be too pushy when trying to grow an audience as a natural audience/following will appear when the time is right. Trying to sell or promote something like a clothing company for summer clothing you will want to use the # feature to refine and optimize your reach to the right audience.
Using some broad #’s like #summer #clothing fashion with help drive people to your page rather than # ”your business name”. As an example, ”Our new summer range is available now! #summer #clothing #fashion. Adding other things like images and keeping the page up to date will enviably see more positive results.
