How to market a home care business: a practical guide

Cai 3 min readContent Marketing

Marketing home care is different from marketing a care home. Instead of filling beds in one building, you need families who want care at home and carers to deliver it. Both groups search locally, read reviews and compare providers before making a decision. Your marketing needs to reach both pipelines at every stage, from the first Google search to the welcome visit.

Our own Search Console data shows the scale of unserved demand: queries in the home care marketing family (home care marketing agency, home care marketing case studies, home care marketing services) generate around 290 impressions on victory.digital every six months with almost no clicks, because no dedicated guide exists to capture them. For a home care business, ranking for your town and care type is the difference between a full schedule and a quiet week.

This guide covers the channels that matter most for home care: local search, your Google Business Profile, content, paid ads and recruitment marketing. It reflects the results we see with our client Home Instead, where organic enquiries grew 251% and paid conversions grew 3,446%.

Families begin with searches like "home care near me" or "live in care [town]". Your website needs clear pages for each service location (live-in care, visiting care, overnight care, companionship) and for every town or postcode area you cover. Consistent name, address and phone details across every directory are essential, because Google cross-references them.

Claim and optimise your Google Business Profile

The Google Business Profile is how you appear in the local map results when families search for care in your area. Complete every section, add photos of your carers and clients (with consent), keep your service area accurate and post regular updates.

Reviews matter hugely in home care because families are trusting you with access to their home and their relative. Ask every happy family for a review, respond to every one and take criticism seriously. A thoughtful reply to a difficult review does more for trust than ignoring it.

Create content that answers real questions

Families research for weeks before they call. Content about the cost of home care, what a carer does, live-in care vs visiting care, how CQC registration works and how funding is arranged (local authority vs self-funding) builds trust before the phone rings. Each genuinely useful page is also a page that can rank, and ranking pages bring enquiries without ongoing ad spend.

Recruitment is every bit as important as client acquisition. Your workforce is the product. Content that speaks to why someone should join your team, whether it is career progression, flexible hours or the satisfaction of making a difference, attracts carers just as client content attracts families.

Use paid ads to grow faster

Google Ads on "home care [town]" or "live in care near me" targets families actively searching for help now. A separate recruitment campaign running on job-related keywords ("caregiver jobs [town]", "home care jobs near me") fills your pipeline of carers. Pair each campaign with a landing page that answers the question early: fees for clients, pay rates and shift patterns for recruits. For our client Home Instead, dedicated paid campaigns drove a 3,446% increase in Google Ad conversions while organic traffic grew 251%.

Measure what matters

Every channel in this guide should be tracked against enquiries, starts and hires, not likes. With the client dashboard at https://victory.digital/client-dashboard you can monitor rankings, traffic sources and campaign performance. The free SEO report at https://victory.digital/run-a-seo-report shows which searches your website currently serves and where the gaps are.
