How to connect Google Search Console to your Victory Digital dashboard

Cai 3 min readClient Portal

Your Victory Digital client dashboard shows your search data the way Google sees it, and that data comes from Google Search Console (GSC). Connecting your GSC property takes a few minutes and lets the dashboard pull your real impressions, clicks, average position and click-through rate for every page we track.

This guide covers the three steps: finding what you need in GSC, sharing it with the dashboard and what to do if the connection does not work first time.

Step 1: Confirm you have access to the right GSC property

Before the dashboard can pull your data, you need to be a verified owner of the Google Search Console property for your website. Most people set this up when they first launch a site. If you have never used Search Console, go to https://search.google.com/search-console and sign in with the Google account your site was registered under. Add your site as a new property (the URL-prefix form, e.g. https://www.yourdomain.com) and follow the verification methods Google gives you. DNS record, HTML file upload and Google Analytics all work.

If you already use GSC, check that you are listed as an owner rather than just a user. Only owners can authorise the connection the dashboard needs. The owner list lives under Settings > Users and permissions in Search Console.

Step 2: Tell your Victory Digital team which GSC property to use

Once your GSC access is confirmed, let your account manager know the exact URL of the property you want connected. This is normally your homepage URL (https://www.yourdomain.com or https://yourdomain.com). We add it to your dashboard during or after onboarding, and the search data starts flowing into your rankings and reports within 24 hours.

If you are setting up the dashboard yourself, open https://victory.digital/client-dashboard and go to the profiles section. Select Google Search Console from the list of available services, enter your property URL and authorise the connection through Google's OAuth screen. The dashboard does not read any data you have not explicitly allowed.

Step 3: What to do if the connection fails

Most connection failures come from one of three things. The property URL does not match exactly what is verified in GSC (https vs http, www vs non-www). The Google account used to authorise is not an owner of the GSC property. Or the OAuth consent screen expired before the connection was completed.

If the dashboard shows no data after 24 hours, double-check the property URL matches down to the protocol (https://www.yourdomain.com, not just yourdomain.com). Re-authorise from the profiles section, making sure you sign in with the owner account. If it still does not connect, email [email protected] and we will check the backend link from our side. Most cases are resolved in a single reply.

Why this matters

Search Console is the most reliable source of organic search data Google offers. Connected to your Victory Digital dashboard, it feeds every ranking report, every keyword watchlist and every SEO opportunity we flag for you. Without it, the dashboard shows your AI visibility and your on-page scores but cannot show what Google actually sees in the search results. Getting it connected early means your reports are accurate from day one.
