Halloween

Halloween is of course celebrated in abundance on 31st October, however, throughout the entire month of October, it is known as the spooky season, and everyone gears themselves up by watching horror movies, playing games, telling spine-tingling stories and hosting extravagant Halloween-themed parties.  

Did you know?  

Halloween is the start of ‘Allhallowtide’, which is where the dead are remembered over a period of 3 days, and effectively ends on 2nd November. The last day of this is called ‘All Souls Day’ which is a day filled with prayer, remembrance and visits to the cemetery. Therefore, Halloween is just one part of the season, but in the modern day is remembered much more than any other.   

Halloween, as we know it today, originated over 2000 years ago, and of course, over the years has changed and adapted to society numerous times. Originally it was a religious celebration welcoming the harvest at the end of summer. Generally, people would dress up and light bonfires to warn off any spirits and ghosts. This is where the Halloween costumes stem from, and why it’s a huge part of the festivities every year. Some of the main aspects of Halloween remain to this day.  

Competition  

From our side, we wanted to do something a little different this year and give back to our followers. So, we decided to host a Halloween Competition across our socials, and we wanted to see as many pumpkin posts as possible, and you sure as hell, did not disappoint!   

With a huge number of entries, we had the privilege of looking at some spectacular pumpkins, thanks to everyone’s extraordinary carving skills and creative minds. Just what we like to see! It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves, tagging their friends and families, and seeing a kind of Pumpkin Face-Off! The entries were so incredible, that we couldn’t possibly decide on which one to win, besides, you could also enter the competition by simply following us and sharing the post for others to enjoy.   

So, we decided to use a random name generator, as it seemed this was the fairest way to pick a winner for our Halloween Competition. Spanning over 11 days, participants had to wait to see if they were the lucky ones, that would be taking home the prize, which is a £50 Amazon Gift Card.   

Whether you want to treat yourself or use it to buy Christmas presents, we hope you enjoy and make the most out of your winnings.
